Construction runs to 2034 and the operations base runs for decades after it.
Why work on Kyleness
Offshore wind has a lot of short contracts in it. This one does not. Construction runs from 2028 to 2034, and the operations and maintenance base at Blyth is staffed for the working life of the site after that.
The project team is deliberately small. About 60 people through construction, growing to roughly 180 at the operations base. That means the person doing a job usually decides how it gets done.
Roster and travel, honestly
Offshore technicians work two weeks on and two weeks off, living aboard a service operation vessel with a walk to work gangway. You sail from Blyth. In a settled week you transfer every day. In a bad week you sit on the vessel and do paperwork.
Onshore roles are five days a week from the Blyth base, with a handful of sailings a year so you have seen the thing you are managing. Survey and marine coordination roles sit somewhere between the two and the pattern is set per campaign.
Everyone offshore holds current sea survival and working at height tickets. If you do not have them and you are otherwise right for the job, we pay for them.
Roles we recruit for
Wind Turbine Technician
Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance across the array, working from the vessel. Electrical or mechanical background, blade and hub access training provided.
Marine Coordinator
Vessel movements, transfer windows, safety zones and the daily call with the fishing associations. Shore based at Blyth, on a rota with two others.
Cable Engineer
Array and export cable through survey, burial, jointing and testing. The role sits with the offshore campaign in season and onshore between them.
Community Liaison Officer
The named person for the parishes along the cable route and the four harbour towns. Public meetings, the grant panel, and a lot of listening.
